Related works (v) Copley's style was influenced by Feke and Greenwood. This portrait was long thought to be by the latter, but Prown considers the Copley authorship is substantiated by the signatures found after recent cleaning. (w) This is a rather puzzling conclusion since the signature was first recorded by Perkins in 1873.
