Provenance (a,b,c) Chiesa della Santissima Annunziata, Minuto, Italy, (a) crypt, (b) the crypt is decorated with frescoes of the end of the 11th or beginning of the 12th c., (c) the crypt of the church is square in plan.

Attribution history (c) Italian School, Campanese - 11th c. by Bertaux, 1904. Compare with the miniatures of the Salerno Exultat, which are about half a century later than these, but strengthened the influence of the gulf of Salerno. Influenced by the Benedectine School of mural painting.
Subject (c) Opposite St. John Baptist, the prophet Daniel is represented as a youthful figure, gorgeously clad in Persian style, in a gray tunic embroidered in gold.
