Attribution history (a) Italian School - 12th c. by Touring Club Italia, 1939; (a) Lazzaro Gerosa by Toesca, 1939, dated to 1464. Madonna and Child with four saints; (b) Attributed to Italian School - 2nd half 12th c. by Frick Art Reference Library, 1912. The representation of the woman of the Apocalypse is similar to the Madonna in Byzantine nativities. The pictorial decorations are contemporary with the reliefs and other sculptural decorations in the church. Influence of the second golden period of Byzantine art; (c) Italian School, Lombard by P. Toesca, April 1940. It seems desirable to place these frescoes, along with other series to which recent photographs have been added; (d,e,f,g) Italian School, Lombard - 12th c., (d,e) by P. Subject (a) Christ giving the keys to S. Peter and the book to S. Paul. S. Marcellus, S. Gregory, City of God, with Christ blessing, the Heavenly City with twelve doors, four angels and four virtues; (b) Charming figure of a wise virgin, Heavenly Jerusalem with strong lines on the ground tints of the faces. The apocalyptic vision, the defeat of apocalyptic dragon, angels huddled around Christ; (d) Fresco decorations, The Apocalypse. S. Gregory on left and S. Marcellus on right of the entrance; (e) Window with Angels of the Last Judgment; (f) Saints on left and right of entrance. Window with Angels of the Last Judgment; (h) S. Marcellus, angels of Apocalypse, the Symbols of the Evangelists, the Rivers of the Earthly Paradise.
