(r and s) This picture is the first of three portraits which the artist painted of the subject. One went to the subject's youngest daughter, Lucy Byrd of Westover, then to "Lower Brandon," then to Mrs. Robert Clifford Harrison, Savannah, and by May 1986 was owned by the Virginia Historical Society, Richmond (see Frick Library photograph files). A photograph of another of these paintings is hanging in Windsor Castle, England. |
