Provenance Possibly commissioned by Giglio di Bartolo di Cristoforo Cresci in the 1450s for the lost chapel of St. John in the church of Santa Chiara (formerly Sant'Agostino), Sansepolcro, Italy;
discovered in December 1954 and in 1957, detached from the wall and transferred to the Museo Civico (also known as the Pinacoteca Comunale), Sansepolcro.
